Description
What kind of wine is it?
Rosso di Montalcino di Casisano is a Tuscan red wine made from Sangiovese. It stands out for its vibrant fruit expression and a balanced profile shaped by steel vinification and aging in Slavonian oak, which support the structure without altering its character.
Where does it come from?
The grapes are sourced from Podere Casisano in Montalcino, from young vines planted during the restoration of abandoned vineyards that began in 2015. This origin, tied to parcels brought back into production, defines the wine’s identity and its connection with the Montalcino area.
How is it produced?
Vinification takes place in steel tanks with native yeasts, with skin maceration lasting about 12 days. The wine then matures for 8 months in Slavonian oak casks and completes its aging in bottle for at least 6 months, resulting in a more harmonious tasting profile.
Tasting notes
In the glass it appears an intense ruby red. The bouquet is complex, with aromas of violet, plum, red fruits and spices. On the palate, the balance between tannins and acidity is well calibrated, and the sip ends on a fresh and persistent finish.
Food pairings
At the table, it is a versatile red: it goes well with first courses with meat sauces, pairs nicely with grilled meats, and achieves a good balance even with cured meats and cheeses.
When to serve it
It’s an ideal choice when you are looking for a balanced, easy-drinking Tuscan red, suitable for both informal situations and a full meal. After opening, a brief oxygenation in the glass can help enhance the aromas and further integrate the tannins, while keeping the wine focused on its freshness.
