Luca Gardini
One of the flagship wines of the winery, from the harvest of overripe grapes. Very spicy and at the same time fresh on the nose, with touches of pomegranate and eucalyptus, in the mouth with taut notes and a deep and salty finish.

Description

What kind of wine it is

Ruchè di Castagnole Monferrato Laccento by Montalbera is a still red wine from the Monferrato area of Asti made from Ruchè grapes. It comes from a selection of very ripe bunches for a rich and concentrated style, recognizable in its varietal aromas. The vinification includes prolonged maceration on the skins and bottle aging, processes that define a warm, elegant, and structured profile, also suitable for aging over time.

Where it comes from

It comes from the hills of Castagnole Monferrato, where Montalbera's vineyards benefit from excellent exposure. The Bricco Montalbera subzone identifies the most suitable parcels, from which the Laccento selection is produced with consistent quality and aromatic richness.

How it is made

Harvesting is carried out with attention to phenolic and sugar ripeness, selecting the ripest berries. Some of the bunches undergo drying, while others are left to over-ripen in the vineyard to increase concentration and complexity. Fermentation takes place with long maceration on the skins, extracting the color, tannins, and typical aromas of Ruchè. Bottle aging for at least 6–8 months integrates the tannic texture and stabilizes the aromatic profile.

Tasting notes

The color appears intense ruby red that with time tends toward garnet highlights. The bouquet is clear and persistent, with notes of rose petals, berry preserves, and a natural spiciness. The palate is warm and soft, with well-blended tannins thanks to the ripeness of the grapes and long maceration. The finish is elegant, with returning fruit nuances and good freshness supporting the structure.

Food pairings

It pairs with medium- and high-intensity dishes such as braised red meats and mushroom-based preparations that enhance Ruchè’s aromatic component. Excellent with mushroom risotto, braises, and slow-cooked meats with tasty side dishes. It is also suitable for flavorful, medium-aged cheeses and offers a fragrant profile without excessive tannin.

When to serve it

It is aimed at those seeking an aromatic and structured red for the cooler seasons or important meals, but it also remains pleasant on informal occasions thanks to its drinkability. The wine can be enjoyed immediately and shows potential for growth after a few years of bottle aging, developing riper and spicier nuances.
