Salento IGT Marù Negroamaro 2015 Castello Monaci
Description
The Marù was born in the Salento vineyards of Castello Monaci, in Puglia. Marù means severe , in Salento: symbol of a living, full and intense land.
This wine is made entirely from Negroamaro grapes, harvested in the very early hours of the morning and immediately transported to the cellar for crushing. Vinification takes place in steel vats; the evolutionary phase is carried out for part of the product in French barriques, with different roasting, for about 6 months while the other remains in steel.
The Marù di Castello Monaci has a garnet red color. The nose offers an intense aroma, with notes reminiscent of the Mediterranean scrub and eucalyptus. In the mouth it shows good structure and balance, thanks to a full, mineral and savory flavor, with a slightly bitter aftertaste.
It proves perfect with roasted meats and stewed meats. It is ideal with aged cheeses.
