Description
The Tuscany Tenuta Tignanello Solaia dei Marchesi Antinori was born in the homonymous vineyard located in the Chianti Classico area and is produced only in exceptional vintages.
It is made 75% with Cabernet Sauvignon grapes, 20% with Sangiovese grapes and 5% with Cabernet Franc, harvested from the end of September until the middle of October. Once in the cellar, the bunches are delicately de-stemmed and the berries carefully selected before pressing. Fermentation and maceration take place in 60 hl truncated cone tanks, then the wine is placed in barriques for malolactic fermentation, to enhance its finesse and pleasantness. Then it matures in French and Hungarian oak barrels for about 18 months, then the different lots, vinified separately according to the variety, are assembled to create the final blend.
The Solaia is characterized by a very intense ruby red color. The nose is of great impact and the different varieties are best expressed with fragrant, intense and sweet notes of red fruits and spices. On the palate it is vibrant, broad and well-structured, with soft tannins. Overall, it is an elegant and balanced wine, with a long and persistent finish that recalls the spicy hints perceived by the nose.
Great meditation wine, it is excellent to accompany savory first courses, grilled red meats and game. Ideal also in combination with aged cheeses.
