Description
The San Andreas Fault is the reference Pinot Noir from Hirsch Vineyards, produced on the True Sonoma Coast in California. The vineyard is located half a mile from the San Andreas Fault, whose presence has shaped a unique geological mosaic, with 67 distinct plots over 72 acres, characterized by extreme variations in soil, exposure, and microclimate.
Each block of the vineyard is cultivated, harvested, and vinified separately to preserve the identity of each plot. The final cuvée of this Pinot Noir brings together fruit from 28 of these microzones, fully reflecting the diversity of the terroir. The artisanal approach in the winery ensures the maximum expression of the site, with fermentations and refinements designed to respect the characteristics of each component.
The wine is distinguished by elegance and complexity: on the nose, notes of cherry, mountain strawberries, wild sage, mint, and wet stone emerge, with a slightly salty hint reminiscent of the Pacific Ocean. On the palate, it is juicy, vibrant, and delicately tannic, with a persistent and refined finish.
It pairs elegantly with roasted duck dishes or grilled porcini mushrooms.
