Description
What kind of wine it is
Bordicon ‘B’ Blend by Idiom is a red wine from Stellenbosch, crafted from a harmonious blend of noble varieties: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Malbec. It stands out for its structured and complex style, designed to offer an intense and well-defined profile. Careful vinification and maturation in French oak barriques endow this wine with remarkable aromatic concentration. The final result is distinguished by its fine tannins and a pronounced aptitude for aging in the bottle.
Origin
The grapes come from the renowned Da Capo vineyard, located near Sir Lowry’s Pass in the Helderberg region, within the Stellenbosch district. This area is characterized by soils composed of decomposed granite, Table Mountain sandstone, and Tukulu, an ideal combination to support the structure and aromatic depth of the grapes. In this unique geographical context, the wine fully expresses its intensity. The origin certifies the character of an area highly suited for wines of great expression.
Production method
After harvest, the grapes undergo six days of cold maceration to encourage a controlled extraction of the noble compounds. The subsequent fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at a temperature maintained between 24 and 28 degrees Celsius and lasts about a week and a half. At the end of this process, the wine is aged for fourteen months in French oak barriques, using a proportion of new oak. This precise targeted aging process serves to integrate the aromatic profile and ensures balanced maturation.
Tasting notes
Brilliant in the glass as a red wine of good color intensity, reflecting the meticulous production method. The nose immediately reveals ripe black plum aromas, tea leaf, and enveloping tobacco notes, followed by distinctive hints of cigar box, pencil shavings, and cassis. On the palate, it delivers a tight and complex sip, with a tasting progression of notable breadth. The finish offers long persistence, supported by fine tannins that support its longevity.
Food pairings
This South African red pairs perfectly with rich braised meat dishes, where its solid structure and tannic texture harmoniously balance the succulence of slow cooking. It is also particularly suitable for accompanying mature cheeses with decisive flavors, thanks to its remarkable palate persistence and mature aromatic profile. The wine’s aromatic complexity enhances rich preparations and intense sauces that call for a red wine with deep character.
Serving suggestions
It is the ideal choice for dining occasions where a structured profile and long finish are desired, especially with strongly flavored dishes. The bouquet’s richness and the elegance of the sip make it perfect for savoring slowly, adding value to occasions where the wine can fully express its identity. Thanks to its clear evolutionary potential, it is suitable for immediate enjoyment but also guarantees excellent results after a careful rest in the bottle.
