Description
Lago di Caldaro Classico Superiore by Tramin is a red wine made from the indigenous Schiava grape variety, cultivated in the hilly areas around Lake Caldaro at an altitude between 250 and 350 meters above sea level. The vineyards grow on calcareous soils with clay and gravel components and benefit from significant temperature variations between hot days influenced by the Mediterranean climate and cool mountain nights, providing ideal conditions to preserve freshness and balance in the wine.
The grapes are harvested entirely by hand and placed in small containers to maintain their integrity. After destemming, they ferment at a controlled temperature in cement tanks, where malolactic fermentation also takes place. The wine then continues to mature in the same cement tanks for several months, allowing the typical freshness and natural expression of the grape variety to be preserved.
In the glass, it displays a light ruby color tending towards a deep ruby red. On the nose, it expresses delicate and fruity aromas typical of Schiava. On the palate, it is pleasantly light, fresh, and immediate, with a slight hint of bitter almond that accompanies a harmonious and highly enjoyable finish.
Ideal with typical South Tyrolean dishes, cured meats, speck, white meats, pizza, and mild cheeses.
