Description
What kind of wine is it
Pinot Nero Ludwig by Elena Walch is a red wine from Alto Adige made from hand-harvested Pinot Nero grapes. Vinification includes fermentations in stainless steel and wood, with ten days of skin contact. Malolactic fermentation takes place in barrel, followed by sixteen months of aging in French oak barriques. The result is a solid structure, fine tannins, and good aging potential.
Where it comes from
Produced in the municipalities of Barleith, Montan, and Tramin in the province of Bolzano.
How it is made
The Pinot Nero grapes are harvested and carefully selected by hand. After gentle pressing, part of the must ferments in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks and part in oak barrels, with ten days of skin contact. Malolactic fermentation takes place in barrel, and aging lasts sixteen months in French oak barriques.
Tasting notes
The color displays an intense ruby red with bright highlights. The nose offers aromas of cherry and ripe plum, with hints of cinnamon and clove. On the palate, soft tannins and freshness support a full body and good persistence, with fruity echoes and a clean, spicy finish.
Food pairing
Pinot Nero Ludwig pairs well with first courses and light main dishes based on red meats.
When to serve it
This Pinot Nero shows medium-term evolution. The wine is pleasing when young due to its fruity freshness and can offer greater depth after a few years, with more developed and mature complexity.
