Description
What kind of wine is it
Hartmann Donà's Pinot Nero is a red wine from Alto Adige made from Pinot Noir grapes. It offers a balanced, medium-bodied style, with a structure that combines freshness and smoothness. It is vinified in steel, followed by twelve months of aging in used wooden barrels and further bottle rest. This process enhances the aromatic finesse and drinkability, resulting in a harmonious and accessible profile.
Where does it come from
The grapes come from Alto Adige, in areas suited for the cultivation of Pinot Nero. The local pedoclimatic conditions and winemaking tradition contribute to a typical and concentrated raw material.
How is it produced
The grapes are destemmed and pressed, then vinified in steel. Aging takes place in used wooden barrels for twelve months, followed by a few months in the bottle before release.
Tasting notes
In the glass, it appears ruby red with violet highlights. On the nose, ripe red fruits such as cherry, raspberry, and wild strawberry emerge, with subtle spices and hints of undergrowth. The palate is dry and smooth, with medium body, velvety tannins, and lively acidity. The finish is persistent, with lingering fruity and spicy notes, defining a balanced profile.
Food pairings
This Pinot Nero pairs well with porcini mushroom risotto, tagliolini with duck ragù, and beef stew. It also complements stewed white meat dishes and enhances regional specialties like speck dumplings and Tyrolean goulash. Excellent with light game and medium-aged cheeses, it offers a balance between softness and persistence for versatile pairing.
When to serve it
It is recommended to serve it in large glasses to enhance its aromas. It is ready to drink, but can evolve in the bottle for several years, maintaining its fruity notes and gaining greater complexity. Thanks to the balance between acidity and tannins, it is suitable both for elegant dinners and for quality daily enjoyment.
