Val di Cornia DOC Suvereto Sangiovese 2012 Gualdo del Re
Description
The Sangiovese di Gualdo del Re originates in the municipality of Suvereto, in the Val di Coornia. This area responds to the province of Livorno and, therefore, knows how to tell one of the most suggestive facets of wine-growing Tuscany and beyond.
It consists of pure Sangiovese grapes, in the midst of the regional autochthonous wine-growing tradition. The biological management of the vineyards not only increases the health level of the grapes, but also their aromatic and organoleptic quality. The vineyards are located at a hilly altitude of 100 meters above sea level, and are defined by a clayey and sandy soil, with a skeleton rich in stones. After completing the malolactic fermentation, the wine ages in barrique for 15 months and then in bottle for another 12.
From the deep ruby red chalice, a complex and intense bouquet rises. Reminiscent of red forest fruit, dark spices, violets and toasted notes of coffee, tobacco and cocoa. In the mouth it is robust, with a tannic composition very present but smooth, inserted in an aromatic framework of character and in a fresh precision finish.
To be combined with a stewed beef stew with a side dish of mushrooms.
