Description
The first wine from the Duca di Salaparuta winery and the first pure Nero d'Avola, Duca Enrico is born from the meticulously selected vineyards of the Tenuta di Suor Marchesa, located among the clay and limestone hills of the island's south. Created to express the excellence of this native grape variety, it stands out for its elegance, complexity, and aging potential.
The vinification process involves manual harvesting of the grapes, careful selection, and controlled temperature fermentation with prolonged maceration in contact with the skins. After malolactic fermentation, the wine ages in fine-grained French oak barriques, both new and second use, for a period ranging from 14 to 18 months, followed by further aging in the bottle before release.
The color is deep red with violet reflections. On the nose, small red fruits emerge accompanied by citrus notes of blood orange and delicate spices, enhanced by aging in wood. On the palate, it presents itself as vertical and enveloping, with sweet and velvety tannins and a persistent finish of great balance.
It pairs perfectly with grilled red meats, braised dishes, and game, but also with medium to long-aged cheeses.
