Description

What kind of wine it is

Tancredi Dolce&Gabbana by Donnafugata is an elegant and structured Sicilian red wine. Classified as Terre Siciliane, it originates from a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Nero d’Avola. The vinification process involves fermentation with skin maceration, followed by maturation in oak barrels and further refinement in the bottle. The style is complex, marked by noble tannins and an intense aromatic component that unites fruity hints with spicy and balsamic notes. The result is a characterful red, ideal for accompanying rich meat dishes or fatty fish.

Where it comes from

The grapes come from the Tenuta di Contessa Entellina, located in the heart of southwestern Sicily within the Terre Siciliane denomination. The Mediterranean terroir favors rigorous and selective winemaking, where the deep bond with the place of origin is reflected in the vineyard work. The wine's name pays homage to Tancredi, a famous character from The Leopard, underlining the cultural vocation of this territory. This literary background joins a clearly defined stylistic imprint that keeps the wine’s authentic territorial identity intact.

How it is produced

Cabernet Sauvignon and Nero d’Avola grapes are selected and harvested exclusively by hand. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks with skin maceration at a controlled temperature between 28 and 30 degrees Celsius for about fourteen days. The wine then matures for twelve months in oak barrels to gain structure and foster tannin integration. The production process ends with a further refinement in the bottle for twenty-four months before release, a phase that defines the perfect balance of its flavor profile.

Tasting notes

Intense red in color, a reflection of its extended maturation process. The bouquet on the nose is enveloping and inviting, centered on notes of berries and plums, enriched by clear balsamic hints intertwined with nuances of sweet tobacco and licorice. On the palate, it is complex and elegant, supported by noble tannins well balanced by a pleasant fragrance. The aromatic persistence recalls the fruity component and deeper spicy sensations, ensuring a perfect balance between intensity and finesse.

Food pairings

It is particularly recommended with red meats and roasts, where its solid tannic structure supports succulence superbly. It also performs beautifully alongside game and braised dishes, preparations in which the wine's aromatic complexity complements slow cooking and concentrated flavors. The pairing with tuna and fatty fish is very interesting and well balanced, thanks to the fragrance that accompanies the meat's texture. Regionally, it enhances traditional recipes such as "tonno alla ghiotta" or a classic braised beef, a combination that reaffirms its clear Mediterranean identity.

When to serve it

Ideal for structured lunches and dinners, especially when serving rich menus based on meat or flavorful seafood dishes. Thanks to the prolonged maturation in wood and the bottle aging before release, the wine is ready to offer complexity and harmony from the first pour. Its elegant sip makes it particularly suitable for convivial moments when a profound and balanced tasting is desired. It's also an excellent choice for tasting evenings dedicated to exploring its balsamic and fruity nuances.
