Description

What type of wine it is

Toscana Castello di Nipozzano Mormoreto by Frescobaldi is an enveloping Tuscan red wine produced from a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, and Merlot. The style is structured and complex due to a firm tannic texture. This profile accompanies the entire aromatic evolution and offers a sip of great depth of flavor.

Where it comes from

The wine's origin is rooted in Tuscany, within the Mormoreto vineyard. This specific plot is located on the estate of Castello di Nipozzano, managed by Frescobaldi. The direct connection to the terroir defines a distinct territorial character, perfectly aligned with the Tuscan interpretation of renowned international grape varieties.

How it is produced

Production begins with the manual harvesting of the grapes between September and October. Fermentation is carried out separately in steel vats below 35 °C and is followed by a twenty-day maceration on the skins. Once the malolactic fermentation is complete, the wine rests for twenty-four months in new and used oak barriques and is further aged in the bottle for six months.

Tasting notes

To the eye, it reveals a brilliant ruby red with subtle violet highlights. The nose offers intense notes of blueberry and black cherry, enhanced by balsamic nuances of eucalyptus, mint, iodine, and cardamom. On the palate, it is smooth and silky, supported by remarkable tannins that guide the tasting towards a decidedly long finish, with consistent spicy returns.

Food pairings

At the table, it shines alongside rich white and red meat dishes. The wine expresses its best with slow-cooked recipes such as braised meats and stews, where the structure of the glass balances the succulence of the dishes. Its balsamic finish also makes it perfect alongside selections of aged cheeses.

When to serve it

It is the ideal choice when the occasion calls for a red of great structure, able to enhance bold flavors on the menu. The prolonged maturation guarantees perfect balance from the very first glass. It is suitable for those seeking a concentrated and persistent wine to enjoy during relaxed convivial moments.
