Description
What type of wine is it
The Massiccio di Tamburini is a red wine crafted from a blend of Sangiovese and Merlot, two varieties that harmoniously complement each other to deliver a wine of great balance, structure, and elegance. The union of these grapes shapes a decisive yet refined profile, made to bring character and poise to the table time after time.
Where it comes from
This wine bears the signature of Tamburini and is intended to best express the character of the estate’s home territory. The choice of a Sangiovese–Merlot blend reflects an approach focused on enhancing a sense of place through a balanced cuvée rather than a single-varietal expression.
How it is made
The Sangiovese and Merlot grapes are vinified separately, with alcoholic fermentation carried out in temperature-controlled stainless-steel tanks to preserve aromatic purity. After fermentation, the wine ages for one year in concrete vats, a step that promotes harmony and complexity, followed by a further minimum of six months of bottle aging.
Tasting notes
It shows a deep ruby red color. On the nose, it offers a broad, enveloping bouquet marked by elegant notes of wild red berries. On the palate, it is full-bodied, balanced, and persistent, with a well-integrated tannin structure that lends suppleness and real drinking pleasure.
What it pairs with
This wine pairs beautifully with flavorful first courses and characterful meat dishes: excellent with red meats, roasts, and game, and an ideal partner for aged cheeses, whose savoriness balances the wine’s tannic structure.
When to serve it
Thanks to its structure and well-integrated tannins, it is suited to main meals, particularly those based on meat. Serve at around 16–18°C, ideally uncorking it shortly beforehand to allow the bouquet to fully emerge.
