Description

What kind of wine is it?

Massetino by Masseto is a Tuscan red wine produced near Bolgheri, born from a careful blend of Merlot and Cabernet Franc grapes. This red, with its intense profile, is vinified at a controlled temperature in cement vats before maturing in French oak barriques and completing its aging in the bottle. The style is harmonious and rich, offering a balanced structure and velvety tannins.

Where does it come from?

This wine is born from the Masseto estate in the Bolgheri area of Tuscany. The vineyards sink their roots into blue clay soils of marine origin, an element that defines the character of the wine. The great luminosity of the place and the beneficial influence of the sea breezes allow Merlot and Cabernet Franc to reach perfect ripeness. The unique microclimate favors a taste expression oriented towards richness and precision.

How is it made?

Fermentation takes place in conical-shaped cement vats at a controlled temperature between 28 and 30 °C. During this phase, a maceration on the skins lasting about thirty days is essential for extracting the blend's structure. After vinification, the red matures in French oak barriques for twelve months. The process is completed with rest and bottle aging, which stabilizes the balance between fruit and spicy notes.

Tasting notes

In the glass, it displays a dark red color, indicating its deep concentration. The bouquet offers intense aromas of ripe cherry, currant, and blackberry, interwoven with spicy and balsamic hints that define its identity. On the palate, it reveals a harmonious and rich character, guided by velvety tannins and a satisfying fruit profile that supports a pleasant, well-ordered progression and a delightfully clean finish.

Food Pairings

This red pairs excellently with first courses with meat sauces, mixed grills, and roasts, where its dense tannic weave integrates with the succulence of the dishes. True to its Tuscan roots, it enhances traditional preparations like pappardelle with wild boar ragù, highlighting dark fruit notes. It's also a natural ally for grilled meats, such as the classic Florentine steak, thanks to its deep palate and balsamic component.

When to serve it

This Tuscan red is the ideal choice for convivial occasions where one desires a full aromatic intensity combined with a soft tannic texture. It is the perfect companion for lunches and dinners featuring meat dishes or grilled preparations. Thanks to its careful wood aging and long bottle rest, it offers a well-integrated flavor profile, capable of delivering a rich and consistent sip that enhances the bold flavors of the table.
