Description

What type of wine is it

The Methius Brut Riserva is a Traditional Method sparkling wine from the Dorigati winery, made from a blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. It is one of the house’s flagship labels from Trentino, the result of a project launched in the 1980s. Its style focuses on aromatic complexity and structure, the outcome of long aging on the lees.

Where it comes from

The grapes come from the hillside zones of Faedo and Pressano in Trentino, at altitudes between 350 and 500 meters above sea level. This elevation favors a diurnal temperature range that helps preserve freshness and aromatic finesse in the grapes. In this setting, the Dorigati winery has been carrying forward this cuvée project since the 1980s.

How it is made

The Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grapes are vinified as white, with a portion of the Chardonnay fermented in barrique. The cuvée is assembled in the spring following the harvest and, after tirage, the secondary fermentation develops slowly at low temperature. The wine remains in bottle for about five years, with periodic lees resuspension, before riddling on pupitres and disgorgement. After the addition of the liqueur d’expédition, a further six to eight months of aging precede release.

Tasting notes

In appearance it is straw yellow with golden highlights, animated by a fine, persistent bead. The nose is intense and complex, lightly spiced, with notes of ripe fruit. On the palate, the mousse is enveloping but not aggressive, with pleasant softness and fullness supported by a balanced structure and a long finish.

Food pairings

This sparkling wine pairs well with appetizers and fish dishes, where its freshness and fine bubbles enhance its elegance. Thanks to its structure and persistence, it can gracefully accompany an entire meal and is more than just an aperitif wine. It is a versatile choice for more refined social occasions.

When to serve it

Serve well chilled. It is ideal to start a meal or to accompany it from start to finish thanks to its structure and persistence. The fine bubbles and aromatic complexity make it suitable for social occasions of some significance. Use glassware that showcases its bubbles and aromatics.
