Umbria IGT San Giorgio 2007 Lungarotti
Description
Umbria San Giorgio di Lungarotti was born in vineyards located in Torgiano, in the heart of Umbria. The label shows San Giorgio and the dragon, an image taken from the famous painting by Raphael, made in homage to the traditional festival of San Giorgio di Torgiano.
It is produced 50% with Cabernet Sauvignon grapes, 40% with Sangiovese grapes and 10% with Canaiolo grapes, harvested during the second half of September. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks, with maceration on the skins for 15-20 days. Subsequently the wine ages in barriques for 12 months, and for a further period in the bottle.
It is characterized by a ruby red color, with intense purple reflections. The nose opens with a large and complex bouquet, with fruity hints, enriched with pleasant spicy notes and delicate balsamic nuances. On the palate it is pleasantly fruity, with a powerful structure and thick and warm tannins. The wine has a long and slightly fresh finish.
Perfect to accompany roasts and game, it is ideal in combination with aged cheeses.
