Description

What kind of wine it is

The Valdobbiadene Superiore di Cartizze Vigna La Rivetta by Villa Sandi is a sparkling wine made entirely from Glera grapes. It shows a pale straw-yellow color and a fine, persistent perlage, the result of secondary fermentation according to the Charmat Method. The profile is both fresh and fruity, with a floral core that accompanies the sip from start to finish. It is the most elegant expression of the denomination, dedicated to a single vineyard.

Where it comes from

The grapes come from the eponymous La Rivetta vineyard, located within Cartizze’s golden pentagon. This area, the heart of the Valdobbiadene Superiore di Cartizze denomination, is considered among the most suited zones for cultivating Glera. The single-vineyard origin gives the wine a precise and recognizable identity. The direct link with this specific plot shapes the style of the cuvée right from the vineyard.

How it is made

The Glera grapes are harvested and selected entirely by hand. After the classic white-winemaking processes, the wine develops its sparkle through a prise de mousse via secondary fermentation in pressurized tank, according to the Charmat Method. Aging continues on its own lees, a step that enriches the aromatic profile and lends greater finesse to the perlage. This production path enhances the freshness and fruit-driven character typical of Glera.

Tasting notes

On sight it shows a pale straw-yellow color, embellished by a fine, persistent perlage. On the nose it opens with an intense, fruity bouquet, with hints of Golden Delicious apple, tropical fruit salad and citrus, enriched by floral notes of acacia and wisteria. On the palate it is fresh and dry, austere yet at the same time soft and fruity. Altogether it delivers a balanced and elegant sip.

What to pair it with

It pairs beautifully with warm seafood appetizers, where its freshness balances the savory component of the dishes. It also finds a great match with light first courses, which can highlight its fruity and floral side. It is also recommended with roast fish, where the wine’s structure accompanies without overpowering. Its versatility makes it suitable for an entire fish-based meal.

When to serve it

Cartizze Vigna La Rivetta is ideal as an aperitif, thanks to its freshness and immediate drinkability. Serve well chilled, at a temperature of around six to eight degrees, to enhance its perlage and aromatic component. It is perfect for opening a dinner or accompanying get-togethers before the meal. Its elegance also makes it suitable for more formal occasions.
