Description

Janelas Branca is a red wine produced in Portugal in the Lisbon region, from vineyards located in Arruda dos Vinhos, characterized by steep slopes and influenced by a Mediterranean climate with a strong Atlantic presence. The clay-limestone soils help to impart balance and structure to the wine. It is mainly made from traditional Portuguese varieties such as Castelão and Tinta Roriz, alongside Syrah, which together express the authentic character of the area.

Winemaking follows a classic approach designed to enhance the tannic structure of the grapes, with alcoholic fermentation at a controlled temperature of around 26°C. During the process, extended maceration is carried out to encourage the extraction of color and aromatic components from the skins. Part of the wine then matures for about six months in French oak barrels, helping to develop complexity and greater harmony.

In the glass, it displays an intense garnet color. On the nose, it offers expressive aromas of ripe forest fruits accompanied by delicate spicy notes and nuances derived from the wood aging. The palate is enveloping and structured, with good freshness that balances the fruit component and an elegant, persistent finish.

It pairs particularly well with meat dishes and cured meats.
