Château Cos Labory
Château Cos Labory is a Cinquième Grand Cru Classé (1855) of the Saint-Estèphe appellation, in the northern Médoc. The name combines its location, on the Cos hill, with that of François Labory, owner until 1845; in 1847 the estate passed to Louis-Gaspard d'Estournel. Since 2023, management has been entrusted to Michel Reybier and his family, with the aim of preserving the domaine's independence.
The vineyard extends over 35 hectares, on the deep gravels of the Cos hill with clays and a limestone subsoil. The proximity to the Gironde estuary and the Atlantic influence temper climatic extremes. The three oldest parcels, at the top of the plateau, are destined for the grand vin.
The blend comprises roughly half Cabernet Sauvignon and one third Merlot, with a small proportion of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, from vines with an average age of 38 years.
Alongside the grand vin Château Cos Labory, Charme de Cos Labory, Le Saint-Estèphe de Cos Labory and Château Andron Blanquet are produced. Château Cos Labory is an authentic and elegant expression of Saint-Estèphe.
