Castello del Trebbio

Castello del Trebbio is one of the most fascinating and historic Tuscan castles in the entire Chianti Classico area. Its fame is linked to the history of the Pazzi, a rich family of bankers of Renaissance Florence who, between the twelfth and fourteenth centuries, by acquiring ownership of all the land surrounding the castle, made it their stronghold, and who in the rooms of the Castello toasted with vermilion red wine (the ancestor of today's Chianti) to what has remained in history as the "Pazzi Conspiracy", one of the most daring attempts to overthrow the hegemony of the Medici family in Florence.

Wine production has always been central to Castello del Trebbio, but it is in the last thirty years, thanks to the current owners Anna Baj Macario and Stefano Casadei, that the Castle has experienced a real rebirth. In fact, the two spouses created DCasadei, a company group that operates according to the principles of Biointegrale® sustainability (a sustainable project that operates in the agricultural field through the use of biodynamic practices, in the energy field through the use of renewable energy, and in the architectural field. with the conservative recovery of the buildings) of which the Trebbio Castle is part together with the other estates of the group, Olianas and Casadei. This project has made wines such as Chianti Rufina Riserva Lastricato (91 pt JS) and Toscana IGT De 'Pazzi (92 pt JS) famous all over the world.
