La Mozza
Owned by Joe and Lidia Bastianich , La Mozza is located in the splendid setting of the Tuscan Maremma , in Magliano di Grosseto, about 12 kilometers from the Tyrrhenian Sea. This area, drier than central Tuscany, with the Island of Elba sheltering the vineyards of the estate from the main wind currents and clearing the rains, means that the ripening of the grapes starts from the early hours of dawn and the sun with its rays illuminate the vine plants until the last hours of sunset.
Vines with a warm climate such as Syrah and Alicante find the ideal conditions in this territory to thrive, as well as Sangiovese which is characterized here by a lower acidity in favor of a more pronounced cherry note . Thus were born the "The Fort" and Morellino di Scansano "I Perazzi" that combine softness and elegance, and the Maremma Toscana "Aragon", a "Super-Med" produced from vines with cuttings from the nurseries of four different Mediterranean regions .
