Rosé wines are born, not made

The best rosé wines come from different parts of the world and are produced according to different styles, taking on various shades of color, aromas and flavors.

It is very common to come across rosé wines that release aromas of strawberry, raspberry and cherry jam, to which are often added characteristic vegetal hints of mint, basil and oregano, but there are rosé wines that are also enchanting thanks to their orange citrine notes sanguine or grapefruit.

But, to really appreciate rosé wines, or rosè wines for sparkling wines, it is important to first understand how they are made. Rosé wines are always obtained from red berried grapes, such as Syrah, Primitivo, Grenache, Montepulciano, Sangiovese, but also Cabernet Sauvignon and Pinot Nero. However, although they acquire their typical coloring from the grape skins, in the same way as wines red, the maceration time is so short that it results in a much lighter must, with nuances that depend on the grape variety and the actual duration of the process. Once the desired color is obtained, the maceration is stopped and the skins are separated from the must, which will undergo the classic fermentation and sparkling process.

The final rosé wine can take on different colors, ranging from pale pale pink to the deepest onion skin. Depending on the intensity of the color, a lighter and fresher wine can be expected, or vice versa, fuller and more aromatic.
