Description

What kind of wine is it

The Toscana Rosso from Carnasciale is a wine of great character obtained from Caberlot grapes. After fermentation in stainless steel vats at a controlled temperature, it completes its maturation in new French oak barriques. Its style is distinguished by a powerful, structured profile, accompanied by a pleasantly soft and velvety texture.

Where does it come from

This red originates in the village of Mercatale Valdarno, in the province of Arezzo, within the wine-growing region of Tuscany. The hilly setting where the vineyards grow directly influences the character of the wine and promotes remarkable aromatic and structural intensity. This local origin gives the grape a mature stamp, ensuring a pronounced fruit presence and a pleasing sense of volume on the palate.

How it is produced

The Caberlot grapes are hand-picked in October and sent for fermentation in small stainless steel vats. After malolactic fermentation, which stabilizes the flavour profile, the wine ages for about 22 months in new French oak barriques from the forests of Allier, Tronçais, and Vosges. This prolonged aging ensures an integrated evolution before bottling.

Tasting notes

In appearance, it shows an intense ruby red color, enriched by garnet reflections that testify to its maturation in wood. The nose offers enveloping aromas of red berries, accompanied by elegant notes of tobacco and sweet spices. On the palate, it is powerful and full-bodied, with a soft and velvety mouthfeel supporting a long, balanced persistence.

Food pairing

It naturally matches pasta dishes with ragù sauce and perfectly accompanies red meats, whether stewed, roasted or grilled. Thanks to its body and pronounced smoothness, this red enhances flavourful dishes and supports long-cooked recipes. The spiced notes of the wine also balance well with aged cheeses.

When to serve

This wine is the perfect choice for special occasions when you want to bring a truly substantial red to the table. Its prolonged aging gives it a full profile, making it ideal for pairing with dishes of intense flavours while maintaining an enjoyably smooth drinkability. It is excellent to taste to appreciate its immediate roundness, but it also has the capacity to further evolve with bottle aging.
