Description
What type of wine is it
Duchessa Lia's Alta Langa Brut is from Piedmont and made as a Metodo Classico sparkling wine from a blend of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Its profile displays a fresh and measured style, with harmonious structure and clear finesse. The prise de mousse follows the Metodo Classico, with a long period on the lees that gives it a complex character and a crisp persistence.
Where it comes from
The grapes come from the hills of Alta Langa, an area with a strong tradition linked to the Metodo Classico.
How it is produced
After harvesting and gentle pressing, the wine follows the Metodo Classico with a long ageing on the lees, a step that develops creaminess and aromatic complexity. Disgorgement completes the process.
Tasting notes
It shows a bright straw yellow colour with golden highlights and a fine, persistent perlage. Yeast and brioche notes emerge on the nose, with nuances of vanilla and moss. On the palate, it reveals a taut entry, citrus undertones, a lean body and savoury structure. The finish is harmonious and persistent.
Food pairings
This Metodo Classico pairs well with seafood starters, fish, shellfish and oysters. In regional cuisine, it complements agnolotti del plin with butter and sage, enhancing the delicacy of the filling. Among national dishes, it works well with aged cheeses and vegetable grills, which find balance in its freshness.
When to serve it
Serve well-chilled in flute or tulip glasses to enhance the bubbles. Ideal as an aperitif on summer evenings, it can accompany the whole meal on formal occasions. It is recommended to enjoy it within a few years after disgorgement, when it best expresses freshness and fragrance.
