Description

The Xinomavro Reserve of the Alpha Estate is made with pure grapes in the northwestern area of Macedonia.

After manual harvesting, the grapes are de-stemmed and lightly pressed for a first cold maceration. Fermentation is carried out with indigenous yeasts and the wine remains in contact with the fine lees for at least 24 months. This is followed by 24 months of ageing in French oak barrels and another 12 months of ageing in the bottle before being marketed.

Very intense ruby red, it has hints of dried tomatoes, black fruits, strawberry, dark cherry accompanied by a subtle smoking. Full-bodied, spices and licorice emerge on the palate, with herbaceous reflections and a return of toasting. Soft tannins and long persistence distinguish the sip.

Suitable for all red meats cooked on the barbecue, spicy sausages, rabbit meats and spicy cheeses.
