Description

What type of wine is it

Barbaresco Bric Turot by Prunotto is a structured red wine produced in the Barbaresco appellation territory. Made from Nebbiolo grapes, this wine stands out for its complex aromatic profile and its velvety tannins that define its character. Careful vinification in stainless steel and subsequent aging in wood give it a full-bodied style that masterfully expresses the typicality of the Piedmontese grape variety.

Where does it come from

This wine originates in the heart of the Barbaresco denomination, a renowned area characterized by soils dating back to the Tortonian and Messinian periods. The soils consist of the so-called fossil Sant'Agata Marls, a specific geological matrix that imparts great personality to the final product. The unique soil composition provides a precise frame for the terroir from which the grapes originate, directly influencing the elegance and structure of the wine.

How is it produced

Production begins with the manual harvest and selection of the grapes between September and October. Fermentation takes place with maceration in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperature for about fifteen days. After malolactic fermentation, the wine undergoes twelve months of aging in oak barrels of varying sizes. The process concludes with a period of bottle aging, essential to stabilize the taste profile before release.

Tasting notes

In the glass, it shows an intense garnet red color with dark ruby highlights. The nose reveals a complex bouquet interweaving scents of wild berries, violet, and licorice, enhanced by spicy hints of cinnamon and cloves. On the palate, it offers a full-bodied and well-structured sip, led by silky tannins that accompany the tasting experience. The finish delivers a pleasant and persistent fruity aftertaste.

Food pairings

Its tannic texture and aromatic complexity make this red wine the perfect companion for rich meat dishes. At the table, it pairs perfectly with succulent preparations such as roasts and braised meats, effectively balancing their different textures. Pairing with aged cheeses is also harmonious, as the wine’s structure supports intense flavors and enhances the spicy and fruity notes.

When to serve it

This wine is the ideal choice for enhancing special dinners and convivial occasions characterized by bold menus. The best time to serve it is during a flavorful meal, where its well-defined structure can fully interact with the food. It is recommended to savor it with the proper attention, allowing the wine some time to breathe so it can gradually reveal all its depth and the complex taste profile developed during aging.
