Description
What kind of wine it is
Barbera d’Alba by Prunotto is a red wine made exclusively from Barbera grapes. It displays a full and harmonious style, characterized by fruity and spicy aromas. The vinification is designed to offer a smooth and immediate drinkability that faithfully reflects the grape variety. Bottle aging helps define its taste balance to ensure a well-structured texture.
Where it comes from
This wine originates from the vineyards of the Prunotto estate, managed by Antinori, located at the heart of the Barbera d’Alba area. This territory firmly shapes the identity of the Barbera grape and imparts a distinctly regional character. The fortunate geographical exposure allows for a clear expression of varietal character, with a focus on aromatic purity and depth.
How it's made
The Barbera grapes are handpicked and carefully selected. Fermentation occurs with temperature-controlled maceration at 28-30 °C for five to seven days, allowing for optimal extraction of color and aromas. Subsequently, malolactic fermentation softens the taste, preparing the wine for a few months of bottle aging before release.
Tasting notes
Visually, it shows a ruby red color with evident violet hues. The nose reveals a pleasant bouquet of flowers and ripe fruit, enriched by elegant spicy notes. On the palate, it is full, harmonious, and round, offering sensations consistent with the nose thanks to a taste profile balanced by the softness imparted by malolactic fermentation.
Food pairings
Its aromatic richness makes it ideal for accompanying structured dishes such as braised meats. The full and round mouthfeel is especially suitable for foods rich in flavor and texture, including fried foods. The perfect balance of fruity and spicy elements results in a harmonious pairing that enhances the dish without ever overpowering it.
When to serve
Ideal to bring to the table for convivial occasions and during multi-course meals, it offers a harmonious character of guaranteed enjoyment. The wine gives its best after the necessary period of bottle maturation, when the floral and fruity profile reaches its full definition. It is an excellent choice to ensure a smooth and well-defined taste.
