Description
Beba99 is a red wine produced in the Anghiari area, in the heart of the Val Tiberina. The vines, trained in the Tuscan arch system, have an average age of about 80 years and are rooted in an unspoiled territory, where viticulture remains artisanal and far from intensive production circuits. The name pays tribute to the producer's grandmother, Elena Testerini, nicknamed "Beba," who inspired this project with her fiery character: the first vinification took place when she turned 99, thus giving the wine its name. The blend includes native Tuscan varieties such as Sangiovese, Canaiolo Nero, Colorino, Aleatico, and Ciliegiolo.
The harvest is done by hand in crates with a careful selection of the grapes on a sorting belt. Fermentation takes place in truncated conical oak vats with skin maceration lasting about ten days at a controlled temperature. After malolactic fermentation, the wine matures on the lees for sixteen months in barriques at the foot of the Dolomites, where it acquires complexity and structure before bottling.
It has a brilliant ruby red color with violet reflections. The bouquet is intense and fruity, with aromas of cherry, raspberry, strawberry, and blueberry, accompanied by hints of undergrowth and savory notes. The palate entry is full and flavorful, with sensations of Mediterranean scrub, present yet silky tannins, good roundness, and long persistence with a fruity and spicy finish.
It pairs perfectly with braised red meats, tasty roasts, and aged cheeses.
