Description

What kind of wine it is

Bolgheri Superiore Dedicato a Walter by Poggio al Tesoro is a red wine made exclusively from Cabernet Franc, produced in the Bolgheri region of Tuscany. The winemaking process involves fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel, with the malolactic fermentation occurring naturally in barriques. The wine is aged for 18 months in first-passage Allier French oak barriques, resulting in a structured, clean style designed to offer intensity and drinking ease.

Where it comes from

The grapes come from vineyards stretching along the via Bolgherese, in the municipality of Castagneto Carducci, within the Bolgheri area. The wine is dedicated to Walter Allegrini, in memory of the love and passion he dedicated to vineyard work and this territory.

How it is produced

The Cabernet Franc is harvested by hand, in small crates, during the last week of September. After careful selection and gentle pressing of the grapes, fermentation takes place in stainless steel at controlled temperature. Malolactic fermentation occurs naturally in barrique, followed by 18 months of aging in first-passage Allier French oak barriques.

Tasting notes

In the glass, it shows a strongly intense ruby red color. On the nose, deep hints of blackberry and blueberry emerge, followed by elegant balsamic notes and a distinct touch of black pepper. On the palate it is powerful and structured, yet maintains lightness and agility, with a harmonious progression of dark fruit, spice, and overall tension.

Food pairings

At the table, it pairs naturally with meat-based dishes and also accompanies noble poultry, especially in rich preparations. It is recommended with long-aged cheeses, which enhance the fruit’s depth and spicy nuances.

When to serve

This is a red wine suited for lunches and dinners where a wine of personality and precision is desired, especially when the menu centers on meat mains. Its structure and barrique aging make it ideal to accompany flavorful courses. Letting it sit in the glass for a few minutes helps highlight the aromatic profile. Its combination of power and agility makes it suitable throughout the meal.
