California Woodbridge Merlot 2014 Robert Mondavi Winery
Description
This Merlot was born on Robert Mondavi's Woodbridge estate, located near Lodi, in the county of San Joaquin in California.
It is produced exclusively with Merlot grapes, carefully picked and selected by hand. After a soft pressing, the fermentation takes place, with aging on the skins, in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperature. Subsequently the wine ages in French oak barrels before being bottled.
Woodbrige Merlot has an intense ruby red color. The nose carries aromas of blackberry, cherry, ripe plum and red fruits, with spicy notes of cocoa in the background. In the mouth it shows a truly delicate but not absent tannin, with sensations of coffee and other spices that give a good gustatory complexity. In the persistent finish emerge vanilla notes, clearly conferred by the aging in French oak.
It goes perfectly with very elaborate first courses such as lasagna, grilled white meats, especially with lamb, and aged cheeses.
