Description
Campari is an Italian bitter with a distinctive bright carmine-red color, the recipe of which is the brainchild of Gaspare Campari. The brand’s origins are tied to Novara and Milan’s Galleria Vittorio Emanuele; in 1904, the company opened its first production facility in Sesto San Giovanni.
The recipe is known to only a handful of production staff and has never been disclosed: it is estimated to include between 20 and 80 botanicals, whose exact combination has remained a closely guarded company secret over time.
On the nose it shows an intense aroma of grapefruit and orange, accompanied by herbaceous notes and cloves. On the palate it stands out for a pleasant bitter taste, supported by a warm, velvety backdrop.
A versatile drink, it is excellent served over ice and is the base of famous cocktails such as the Americano, the Spritz, the Negroni and the Negroni Sbagliato: perfect as an aperitif.
