Description
What type of wine is it?
Argilité by Tarlant is a Brut Nature Champagne made from a blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir from a single vineyard. The absence of final dosage steers the profile towards dryness, precision, and a pronounced savoriness, with a taut and linear palate structure.
Where does it come from?
The grapes are sourced from a single vineyard selected by Tarlant on calcareous soil. This pedological context provides a dry and vertical character, highlighting a clear expression of place and a saline component recognizable both on the nose and palate.
How is it produced?
After a slow pressing, the must undergoes spontaneous fermentation and remains on the lees for around seven months in red clay amphorae. This is followed by about sixty months of aging, maintaining the Brut Nature style without final dosage, to deliver aromatic purity, freshness, and a dry finish.
Tasting notes
In the glass it appears straw yellow with silver highlights and persistent perlage. On the nose, citrus fruits, aromatic herbs, and a mineral note of split stone emerge. The palate is fresh and lively, with a linear progression and a savoriness that supports the sip all the way to a dry, precise finish.
Pairings
It pairs well with fish and shellfish dishes, where freshness and saline backbone cleanse the palate and complement essential preparations. It's also suitable for raw or simply cooked dishes, where the citrus notes and dry finish remain focused and consistent.
When to serve it
It is recommended when you want a dry and precise wine, able to accompany the meal with rhythm and palate-cleansing clarity. The long period on the lees offers depth without heaviness, making it suitable for seafood cuisine and for those who appreciate a taut, mineral profile.
