Description
Besserat de Bellefon's Champagne Rosé Brut is refined and sensual, crafted from a blend of Pinot Meunier, Chardonnay, and Pinot Noir. The grapes come from around 40 Champagne crus, including three Grand Crus such as Avize, Mesnil-sur-Oger, and Louvois, and five Premier Crus including Bisseuil, Vertus, and Cumières. The cuvée also includes 11% red wines from Bouzy, Les Riceys, and Vincelles.
Vinification follows the maison's traditional method, characterized by a lower addition of liqueur de tirage, which allows for finer and more delicate bubbles. This process, combined with the absence of malolactic fermentation, preserves freshness and liveliness. The wine is aged for at least three years on the lees, followed by a further minimum of six months of rest after disgorgement, giving it depth and complexity.
In the glass, it appears a pale pink with fine, clear bubbles. The bouquet reveals intense aromas of red fruits and hawthorn, with a spring-like energy that enhances its vibrancy. On the palate, it is brilliant and seductive, with wild strawberry notes and a soft, fresh texture that gently envelops the palate.
Perfect paired with foie gras and gingerbread skewers, but also with roasted shrimp with orange and pomegranate juice or seared Brittany langoustines.
