Joseph Krug had a dream, that of being able to give the world the best Champagne that his estates could offer every year, regardless of the weather: Krug Grande Cuvée 168ème Édition is the highest, sublime and faithful manifestation of this warning, a goal of absolute quality that the Krug maison has pursued with inimitable style since 1843. The number of Édition corresponds to the number of times the founder of Krug managed to concretize his dream: with this edition, the maison can proudly celebrate 168 wishes become reality and given to humanity.

A fine blend of 52% Pinot Noir, 35% Chardonnay and 13% Meunier, this Champagne is a daring and highly refined assemblage of 198 wines, carefully selected from 11 different vintages, in which only the best grapes participate. The rest of the wine for about seven years gives it that elegance which constitutes the stylistic code of the entire maison, but which finds in this label an even more evident fulfillment. Krug Grande Cuvée is the first and only Champagne de Prestige recreated every year, which interprets and exceeds the concept of Millesimato. The art of assembling wines from such different vintages, in which Krug's maison is the most faithful witness, perfectly reproduces that organoleptic profile that would otherwise be impossible to achieve.

The 168th edition of Krug Grande Cuvée was created starting from the 2012 vintage, a year that was characterized by a limited but precious harvest. The final assembly selected the grapes of the year, combined with reserve wines from another 10 vintages. Thanks to the painstaking care and obsessive attention paid to the estates, the grapes were able to express themselves in all their splendor, giving this limited edition a prodigious profile.

A golden and shining color, a lively and exuberant perlage are only the prelude to a pleasure without borders. Aromas of freshly blossomed flowers, citrus fruits, ripe and dried fruit, as well as marzipan and gingerbread, envelop the nose like a fairy tale, while the palate foreshadows the already perceived olfactory notes to which are added hints of walnut, hazelnut, sugar of cane, composed of citrus fruit, almonds, brioche and honey. Simply dreamlike wine, destined to make every occasion special.

Krug Grande Cuvée 168ème Édition is extremely versatile: it can harmoniously marry a seasoned Parmesan as well as a turbot with truffles. It can be tasted as an aperitif with a Jabugo ham or aged Comté cheese or as an accompaniment to oysters, or as a meal, alongside a juicy cheesecake.
