Description
What kind of wine is it
Charles Heidsieck Brut Réserve Champagne is created from a blend of Chardonnay, Pinot Meunier, and Pinot Noir, produced using the traditional Champagne method. This Champagne features a delicate structure and a complex bouquet, balanced with freshness and depth. After fermentation, the wine matures for a long time on the lees, resulting in marked minerality and a pleasant persistence.
Where does it come from
The grapes originate from various areas of Champagne, including selections from the Grand Cru and Premier Cru vineyards of the Montagne de Reims and the Côte des Blancs. The chalk-rich soils promote slow ripening and preserve acidity and fragrance. The roots plunge deep into the ancient crayères, offering ideal conditions for maturation and contributing to the typical freshness.
How is it made
Hand harvesting of selected grapes allows only for the extraction of the first-press juice. The blend is enriched with long-aged reserve wines, ensuring stylistic consistency and aromatic depth. The second fermentation takes place in the bottle following the traditional Champagne method, with over 36 months of lees ageing in the crayères before disgorgement.
Tasting notes
In the glass, the Champagne displays an intense golden yellow hue with a fine and persistent perlage. On the nose, hints of brioche, mango, and apricot emerge, alongside notes of greengage plum, pistachio, and toasted almond. The palate is elegant and dry, with lively acidity and a creamy texture. The finish is savory and persistent, with subtle nuances of vanilla and toasted chocolate.
Food pairings
This Champagne is perfect as an aperitif or alongside fried fish, crispy vegetables, or delicate seafood dishes. It also pairs well with creamy risottos, fish carpaccio, and light preparations using seasonal vegetables, showcasing the wine’s versatility at the table.
When to serve
The wine can be enjoyed young for its freshness, but it also has the potential to offer greater aromatic complexity and maturity after a few years.
