Description
Badia a Coltibuono's Chianti Classico is born from the vineyards Poggino, Vignone, Montebello, and Argenina, located in Monti in Chianti, in the province of Siena.
It is produced from Sangiovese, Canaiolo, Ciliegiolo, and Colorino grapes, hand-harvested between the second half of September and the first half of October. The grapes ferment naturally with indigenous yeasts and are then left to macerate for 3 weeks, with punch-downs and délestage. The wine matures for 12 months in French and Austrian oak barrels before bottling.
This Chianti Classico displays a deep ruby red color. The nose reveals floral aromas of iris and violets, enriched by notes of morello cherry and hints of tobacco and black pepper. On the palate it is dry, with a good balance between acidity and tannins. Mineral and red fruit hints, as well as notes of leather and coffee, come through on the finish.
Perfect to accompany flavorful first courses, it is ideal when paired with red meats and aged cheeses.
