Chianti Classico DOCG Castello Fonterutoli 2016 Marchesi Mazzei
Description
The Chianti Classico Castello Fonterutoli of Mazzei was born in the Castello di Fonterutoli estate, located in the province of Siena, on the hills overlooking the Val d'Elsa, in the heart of the Chianti Classico.
It is 92% made with Sangiovese grapes, originating from 50 different plots so as to enhance the biodiversity and complexity of the 36 Sangiovese biotypes present on the farm, and 8% from Malvasia Nera and Colorino. The different parcels are managed, harvested, vinified and refined separately, to maximize the unique style of the terroirs. After a fermentation and maceration of 15 - 18 days at a controlled temperature of 26 - 28 °, the wine is aged in French oak barrels for 20 months.
Castello Fonterutoli is a red wine with great aging potential, up to 20 years. The nose has a complex floral bouquet, on the palate it is a wine of great structure, with a very rich taste and a long and persistent finish.
Ideal in combination with rich and spicy dishes, it goes well with game, braised and stewed. Also perfect in combination with truffles and aged cheeses.
