Description

The Chianti Classico Riserva from Gagliole is made exclusively from Sangiovese grapes sourced from 16–20-year-old vineyards located in Castellina in Chianti, Badia a Passignano and Panzano in Chianti, at 350 to 450 meters above sea level with a southwest exposure. The vines are rooted in loam-clay soils over Pietraforte bedrock.

The grapes are hand-harvested into crates and fermented with indigenous yeasts in stainless steel tanks, with a 25-day maceration. The wine ages for 12 months in French oak barriques, 20% of which are new, followed by a further 6 months in concrete tanks.

Its profile conveys the character of Sangiovese from Chianti Classico in a structured, elegant guise, with a balanced palate and a personality that marries intensity and finesse. On the nose it offers aromas of ripe cherry and morello cherry, accompanied by floral notes of violet, balsamic and spicy nuances, with delicate hints of tobacco and fine woods.

It pairs particularly well with roasted meats, game, braised dishes and aged cheeses.
