Description
What kind of wine it is
Lunae Vermentino Etichetta Nera is a white wine made from 100% Vermentino grapes, first released in 1992 to showcase the variety’s potential in this area.
Where it comes from
It comes from the Colli di Luni Vermentino appellation, in the hills of Luni and Castelnuovo Magra, from parcels selected each year for their superior organoleptic potential.
How it is made
The grapes are hand-harvested in the early morning and swiftly brought to the winery, where they undergo a brief cold maceration on the skins for about eight hours. This is followed by temperature-controlled fermentation in stainless steel and aging on fine lees, also in steel, for about four months.
Tasting notes
It shows a straw-yellow color. On the nose it opens with ripe yellow-fleshed fruit, especially apricot and peach, embellished with notes of acacia blossom and Mediterranean scrub, accompanied by saline and balsamic nuances. On the palate the freshness is linear and vibrant; the savoriness balances a broad, rounded body, with a long, persistent almond-tinged finish and an echo of appealing ripe fruit.
Food pairing
Perfect with fish-based dishes, it is also ideal with fine poultry, soups and stews.
When to serve it
Its versatile character and structure make it suitable both as an aperitif to start a meal and to accompany an entire lunch or dinner, especially with the aforementioned fish dishes.
