Description
What type of wine is it
Côte de Beaune-Villages Joseph Drouhin is a red wine from Burgundy made exclusively from Pinot Noir. It comes from a selection of 16 villages in Côte de Beaune and is distinguished by a clean, harmonious and elegant profile. The winemaking process involves total destemming, followed by maceration and fermentation for one or two weeks with indigenous yeasts. The aging in oak barrels lasts from 10 to 14 months, offering a measured interpretation of red fruit and the territory.
Where it comes from
The Côte de Beaune-Villages area is located in the southern part of the Côte d’Or in Burgundy and can be produced in 16 communes of the Côte de Beaune. The grapes selected by Joseph Drouhin come from plots with predominantly clay-limestone soils, which are typical of the area. This context, linked to the villages and their parcels, contributes to a recognizable style marked by balance and restraint in Pinot Noir.
How it is made
Production begins with the purchase of grapes and musts from partner growers who follow a strict set of guidelines. Harvesting is done by hand and carried out in perforated crates to preserve the integrity of the bunches. In the winery, total destemming is followed by maceration and fermentation for one or two weeks with indigenous yeasts. The wine is then aged in oak barrels for 10–14 months, with weekly tastings aimed at maintaining finesse and expression of the territory.
Tasting notes
In the glass, it presents a clear and bright purple hue. The nose offers delicate and straightforward aromas of red fruits. On the palate, it is harmonious and straightforward, with a smooth profile and a measured elegance that allows the terroir to shine through without excess. The finish is balanced and clean, suitable for immediate drinking.
Food pairing
At the table, it pairs well with white meats, mushrooms, and soft cheeses, supporting dishes of medium structure. With roasted poultry, it maintains consistency in intensity and texture, while with mushroom-based dishes, it accompanies without overpowering the flavors. The wine’s balance helps to enhance delicately flavored and well-defined recipes.
When to serve it
This is a red suitable for convivial moments, at lunch or dinner, when you wish for a balanced and approachable Pinot Noir. Its measured structure and harmonious profile make it ideal for menus featuring white meats, mushrooms, or soft cheeses. Thanks to its careful vinification and maturation in oak barrels, it offers good definition while maintaining freshness and finesse, without focusing on power.
