Description

What kind of wine is it?

Barbalonga Brut is a Franciacorta produced in Lombardy from a blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grapes, grown in the Rovato area. Crafted with the strict Traditional Method, it undergoes an extended bottle ageing to achieve full maturity. The union of these noble varieties delivers remarkable aromatic intensity and prepares the palate for a structured, fresh, and harmonious tasting experience, combining great finesse with an enveloping and persistent sip.

Where does it come from?

The vineyards are located at the foot of Monte Orfano, in the town of Rovato in Brescia, the historic heart of Franciacorta. This distinctive hillside setting creates a unique terroir, exceptionally well-suited for vine cultivation. The land’s character is reflected in a balanced profile that enhances the clarity and distinctive character of this Lombard wine, perfectly aligned with the style and harmony demanded by this celebrated region.

How is it made?

Harvesting of the Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grapes is carried out entirely by hand between August and early September. After the initial vinification, the secondary fermentation takes place in the bottle according to the Traditional Method. The wine rests on its lees for at least twenty-four months, a crucial stage that develops a very fine mousse and enriches the aromatic structure, ensuring precise flavors and a seamless tasting experience for this acclaimed sparkling wine.

Tasting notes

In the glass, it reveals a captivating golden yellow color, highlighted by a persistent and lively mousse. The bouquet opens with inviting dried fruit notes, accompanied by a reassuring and typical bread crust background, a result of the wine's long lees ageing. On the palate, it offers a soft yet intense mouthfeel, with appealing hints of tropical fruit leading to a clean finish, characterized by a creamy texture and a perfect harmony between aroma and taste.

Food pairings

It naturally pairs with delicate risottos and white meats, and it is an excellent match for fish and shellfish dishes. The balance of smoothness and freshness makes it ideal for plates that require a clean and balanced sip, never overpowering the ingredients. It is perfect with classic risotto alla milanese or seafood, where the wine’s creaminess enhances the salty and marine notes of the dishes.

When to serve

Thanks to its clear and consistent profile, this Franciacorta Brut is well-suited to social occasions and is ideal both as an aperitif and throughout the meal. Its vibrant aromas and enveloping mousse allow it to move seamlessly across courses, accompanying fish, risottos, and delicate roasts with extraordinary consistency. The synergy between its delightful bouquet and energetic finish makes it a flawless choice for occasions that call for a mature Traditional Method wine, ensuring a refined and satisfying drinking experience from the very start to the end of any event.
