Description
What kind of wine it is
Ferghettina's Brut is a Franciacorta born from a blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, both cultivated on the hills of Adro in the Brescia area. The winemaking follows the Traditional Method, with a second fermentation in the bottle that gives the wine a fresh and elegant style. This Franciacorta focuses on clean aromas and taste balance, thanks to a carefully managed production process that starts with the meticulous selection of grape bunches.
Where it comes from
This wine comes to life on the hills of Adro, within the renowned Franciacorta appellation. The vineyard area of Brescia provides the perfect backdrop for the Ferghettina winery to develop its unique winemaking identity. The connection with its place of origin is evident in a profile that combines finesse and drinkability, offering a faithful expression of Lombardy's terroir with remarkable continuity.
How it is produced
Production begins with an extremely gentle pressing of whole bunches of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Only the first juice, the highest quality part of the initial pressing, is extracted and sent to the fermentation tank. The wine rests until the following spring, then it is bottled for secondary fermentation according to the Traditional Method. This is followed by a 24-month aging on the lees, essential for defining a measured aromatic profile and the fine texture of the bubbles.
Tasting notes
It appears straw yellow in color, accompanied by a fine and persistent perlage. The nose reveals neat and precise aromas, with hints of hazelnut and light notes of sweet fruits. On the palate, the aromatic sensations are perfectly matched, offering a sip supported by a pleasant freshness that remains constant through to the balanced and clean finish.
Food pairing
This Franciacorta pairs harmoniously with delicate first courses and fish-based mains, enhancing dishes with subtle aromatic components. It is particularly recommended with raw fish and shellfish, where the wine's freshness balances the sweetness of the flesh. Its elegant character makes it perfect for a seafood risotto or spaghetti allo scoglio, as it keeps the palate refreshed even with quickly cooked dishes.
When to serve
Thanks to its fresh character and fine bubbles, this Franciacorta is ideal for serving throughout the meal during social gatherings. It is a reliable choice from the start of dinner, maintaining its expressiveness even through the main courses. The prolonged aging on the lees ensures a well-defined style, perfect when you're looking for a wine that combines aromatic elegance with a refreshing finish.
