Description
The Langhe Nebbiolo by Fortemasso is made with Nebbiolo grapes grown at 300 meters above sea level on the white marl soil of Sant’Agata, in the municipality of Monforte d’Alba, in Piedmont. The vineyards with southwest exposure benefit from a favorable microclimate for the full maturation of the grapes, offering a wine that elegantly interprets the varietal identity of Nebbiolo in a younger version compared to Barolo.
The winemaking process involves crushing and destemming and fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, with daily pump-overs to aid extraction. After a brief maceration, the wine is drawn off and the fermentation continues at a controlled temperature. Malolactic fermentation follows naturally and the wine is aged in steel for several months, before bottling in spring.
In appearance, it has a medium intensity ruby red color with violet reflections. The bouquet is broad and floral, with notes of violet, raspberry, cherry, and plum. On the palate, it is harmonious and savory, with a dry and pleasantly fruity finish that makes it enjoyable to drink.
It pairs well with Piedmontese appetizers, white meats, and fresh or semi-aged cheeses.
