Description

What type of wine is it

Langhe Nebbiolo by Sabaudo is a red wine with strong personality, made from Nebbiolo grapes grown in the municipality of Monforte d’Alba. The Langhe denomination encompasses this expression of decisive character and remarkable structure. Careful vinification combined with prolonged aging in wood shapes a persistent and enveloping sip, culminating in a long and well-defined finish.

Where it comes from

The vineyards are located in Monforte d’Alba, one of the most renowned areas in Piedmont for the cultivation of red grape varieties. The vines sink their roots into clay and limestone soils, a fundamental geological composition that gives the wine deep structure and a clear identity. The historical connection to the region is celebrated on the label, which depicts Camillo Benso Count of Cavour, an emblematic figure of the Italian Risorgimento and closely linked to local tradition. The interplay between microclimate and soil ensures an authentic territorial expression.

How it is produced

Immediately after harvest, the bunches are crushed and sent for fermentation in stainless steel, a technical choice that preserves the clarity of the primary aromas. Subsequently, the wine undergoes a fourteen-month aging period in large Slavonian and French oak casks. This slow maturation harmonizes the texture and fosters aromatic development, while maintaining the varietal’s distinctive traits. The restrained use of wood delivers a balanced and well-structured flavor profile.

Tasting notes

In the glass it shows a bright and brilliant ruby red color, leading to a clean and immediate olfactory profile. On the nose, ripe red fruit aromas emerge, with clear notes of currant and plum. The palate is bold and full of character, supported by a texture that follows a balanced progression. The tasting ends with a good persistence, confirming a structured and consistent experience.

Food pairings

Its gastronomic vocation makes it the ideal companion to enhance meat-based dishes, highlighting their intensity and savory elements. The solid sip complements richly flavored dishes, from braised meats to more elaborate roasts. A recommended pairing is with recipes including chestnuts, which recall the nuances of ripe fruit found in the wine’s bouquet. This red maintains a constant balance, elegantly accompanying the entire meal.

When to serve it

It is an excellent choice for enriching lunches and dinners where bold flavors take center stage, especially during the coolest months of the year. Thanks to the long aging, it appears in the glass with a well-defined profile, ideal for convivial moments calling for a red wine with character. Its compact texture and ongoing flavor make it a reliable companion at the table, able to pair well from the first hot courses to the most substantial second courses.
