Description
What kind of wine it is
Meursault Les Genevrières by Girardin is a white wine produced in the namesake village, located in the renowned Côte de Beaune region, obtained from white grape varieties. Its tasting profile stands out for its concentrated and elegant style, featuring a broad structure and a complex, well-defined aromatic bouquet. Fermentation and aging take place in French oak barrels, ensuring a final result that combines great volume with remarkable tasting precision, balanced wood integration, and a harmonious finish.
Where it comes from
This wine is born in the southern area of Meursault, in the heart of Burgundy’s wine country. The Les Genevrières plot is situated in a particularly favorable area, adjacent to lands renowned for the high quality of their fruit. The vines have an average age of sixty years and sink their roots into a homogeneous, shallow clay-limestone soil, whose geological origins date back to the Bathonian era. These unique territorial characteristics support a rich and well-defined expression and give the glass good tension and remarkable depth.
How it is produced
The production process begins with manual harvest accompanied by careful selection of the bunches directly in the vineyard. The must, obtained through gentle pressing and light settling, ferments in French oak barrels, some of which are new, and relies on indigenous yeasts and bacteria. Aging on fine lees continues for eighteen months without bâtonnage to preserve aromatic clarity. The final stage involves racking into stainless steel before delicate bottling, timed according to the lunar calendar cycles.
Tasting notes
On visual examination, it reveals a luminous shade, a direct consequence of its meticulous aging in wood. On the nose, it expresses a concentrated and elegant profile, dominated by hints of almond, bread crust, fine spices, and a touch of toasted dried fruit. The palate is broad and generous, featuring nuances of vanilla finely blended with a lively, refreshing citrus component. Tasting ends with a harmonious finish, upheld by marked persistence.
Food pairing
At the table, it is the perfect ally to enhance noble poultry in sauce, as it creates a synergy between its intrinsic breadth and the creaminess of the preparation. The rich, spicy bouquet establishes an interesting dialogue with the intense aromas of truffle risotto, and it is also perfectly suited to soft, creamy cheeses. For a meal inspired by the culinary roots of Burgundy, it pairs harmoniously with poulet à la crème or similar recipes from regional tradition.
When to serve it
This Burgundy white is the ideal choice for occasions that call for a structured wine, able to enhance important dishes while maintaining great precision. To fully appreciate its aromas and citrusy charm, it is recommended to serve at a moderately cool temperature. Allowing it a brief period of oxygenation in the glass lets it open up and reveal every aromatic nuance. It is also capable of withstanding extended aging, which allows it to evolve fascinatingly toward even more integrated sensations.
