Napa Valley AVA Overture by Opus One Release 2017 Opus One Winery
Description
In the wake of the tradition in force at the great Bordeaux estates, the famous Opus One Winery, daughter of the collaboration between the two wine giants Mondavi and Rothschild, has also created its own "second wine", the result of a skilful blend of more vintages, which takes the name of Overture. Every acre of the vineyard is meticulously cultivated, with the same care and attention to detail guaranteed to Opus One wine.
It is the result of an artfully blended blend of grapes from different vintages of the typical varieties of the Bordeaux blend: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Malbec and Petit Verdot. The process is conducted using only the principles of gravity. Fermentation takes place, with maceration, in stainless steel tanks, followed by aging for 18 months in new French oak barrels and a further 18 months in the bottle.
With an intense garnet color to the eye, the Opus One Overture pits expressive aromas of cherry, blackcurrant and blueberry on the nose, accompanied by earthy notes of cedar and vanilla. In the mouth it is incredibly elegant and complex, full-bodied, slightly mineral, with well-integrated tannins and hints of raspberry and cassis that alternate with persuasive spicy notes of black pepper.
Excellent with important poultry or game dishes, it goes very well with great preparations based on lamb or red meats in general.
