Description
Les Forts de Latour is produced by Château Latour, one of the oldest wineries in the renowned Bordeaux area. Its name is linked to the tower of St. Lambert, which dates back to the 1400s and near which the winery was established; however, the current building dates to the second half of the 19th century. Since the 1960s, a series of changes have been made to the estate. One of the most significant was the shift from wooden barrels to stainless steel vats for vinification, while biodynamic farming is practiced on 50% of the vineyards. The wine takes its name from a historic area within the "Enclos." It was first labeled with this name in 1966, and thanks to continuous work on its quality, it has reached the level of a Médoc Grand Cru Classé.
This vintage is composed mainly of Cabernet Franc grapes, with smaller percentages of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats, where both alcoholic and malolactic fermentations occur. The wine is aged in French oak barrels, 50-60% of which are new.
In the glass, the wine shows a ruby red color with garnet hints. On the nose, it reveals notes of black fruits such as blueberry, sloe, blackcurrant, and blackberry, with balsamic and spicy sensations of vanilla and cinnamon. The palate is round and powerful, with elegantly polished tannins and a lingering finish.
Perfect paired with important dishes of red meat and noble poultry.
