Description

What kind of wine it is

Stilio Limited Edition by Mottura is a full-bodied red from Puglia, an expression of the winery’s Selezione line. It is conceived as an intense, concentrated interpretation of Primitivo di Manduria, aimed at those seeking a characterful wine capable of long aging.

Where it comes from

The grapes come from municipalities in the province of Taranto, the heart of the Primitivo di Manduria denomination in Puglia. The Mottura winery is based in the Salento, in Tuglie, in the province of Lecce, an area where calcareous and clay soils lend the wine minerality and structure.

How it is made

The wine is made from Primitivo grapes trained mainly as alberello (bush vines), harvested almost exclusively by hand with slight overripening and careful bunch selection. Vinification involves a prolonged maceration with délestage and periodic pump-overs, followed by alcoholic fermentation at controlled temperature. After racking, the wine matures for at least one year, with subsequent aging predominantly in oak casks and a long period of bottle rest.

Tasting notes

The color is a deep, almost opaque red with purplish highlights. The bouquet is austere, with notes of red fruit jam, prune and dried figs with almonds, set against a backdrop of coffee and cocoa. On the palate it is full, dense and persistent, with a fruit-driven finish of great character.

Food pairing

Its substantial structure makes it ideal with grilled red meats and game dishes in sauce. It also pairs well with aged cheeses, while its concentration makes it suitable as a contemplative wine, to be enjoyed with dark chocolate or a cigar.

When to serve it

Serve at 18–20°C, preferably in a wide-bowled glass that enhances its aromatic complexity. Thanks to its structure, it is suitable for long aging.
