Description

El Espino is a red wine produced by Viñedos y Bodegas Áster, in the heart of the Ribera del Duero, made from 100% Tinta del País grapes grown in the El Espino plot in Anguix, on sandy-silty soils at about 800 meters above sea level. It is the contemporary expression of the territory, capable of combining elegance, freshness, and power.

The harvest is carried out manually in boxes, with subsequent optical selection of the grapes. After cold maceration to enhance the varietal aromas and colors, alcoholic fermentation takes place in tanks, while malolactic fermentation occurs half in tank and half in second-use French oak barrels. Aging continues for 12 months in French oak barrels, 20% of which are new, followed by an assembly of four months before bottling.

It shows a deep, intense ruby color with purplish highlights. The nose is characterized by great aromatic intensity, with notes of wild berries, red currants, blueberries, and plums, enriched by elegant aging scents like ground coffee, licorice, and sweet pepper. On the palate, it is fresh, balanced, and full-bodied, with soft and delicate tannins that enhance its harmony.

It pairs perfectly with grilled red meats, spicy roasts, and aged cheeses.
